Festival of Exomvourgo
Cultural summer in Ôinos insland

Concerts by Greek artists, theatre performances, literary events as well as interesting exhibitions are included in this year's programme of the 5th Festival of Exombourgo in Tinos island. Having already sealed the Aegean's cultural life, this important art institution begins on July 1rst and lasts until September 4, offering interesting events which are held in various venues and open air spaces in Tinos.

The festival of Exombourgo aims to promote the natural beauty of the island, its history and artistic traditions, as well as values and tendencies of the broader Greek cultural field. The particular characteristic of Exombourgo is its numerous villages, which compose a landscape that motivates human imagination and creativity due to the diverse and qualitative elements of its people.

University professors, editors, historians, journalists, writers, directors, actors, visual artists, musicians and art lovers in general, offer both their prestige and knowledge to the festival. Also, young locals participate in the organization committee voluntarily .

Festival's artistic director is Themis Rodamitits, while the lightings are by Elefteria Deko.

The programme of the festival goes as follows:

Friday 1/7 (Loutra)
-Traditional songs of the Aegean Islands by Eleni Legaki and Nikos Konitopoulos
-A tribute to the French dancer and choreographer Daniel Lommel in collaboration with the foundation En Tino

Friday 8/7 (Cultural Foundation of Tinos)
-Speakers: Piollet Wilfried, Tony Caneeloro, Fabien Dumas, Moose Tailor, Giorgos Skampardonis
-Notes for piano and violoncello, music performance with Mema Ireneou and Vania Papadimitriou (featuring music compositions by Skalkotas, Papastavrou, Kydoniatis)

-Did you say Baroque? Dance performance by the Dance Group Aenaon (archaeological site of Kionia)

Saturday 9/7 (Volax theatre)
-Dance performance entitled Extracts of Love- A tribute to Manos Xadjidakis by Aenaon Dance Theater

Sunday 10/7 (Porto Tango Hotel)
-A series of cultural events (outdoors of Porto Tango Hotel)

Friday 15/7(Cultural Foundation of Tinos)
-Presentation of the second volume of the literary magazine Dekata

Concert by Eleni Vitali

Friday 22/7(Loutra)
-The enchanting Greek song. The music group Pageon interprets Greek traditional songs as well as songs from Asia Minor and rempetika

Sunday 24/7 (Loutra)
- A voyage to the lighthouse A concert by Yiorgos Kalkanis.The event also includes a tribute to the poet Nikos Kavadias

Friday 29/7 (Falatados- elementary school)
-Photography exhibition entitled "Stones" by Yiorgos Tsoutsouras

-A music tribute to the great popular composers Vassilis Tsitsanis and Markos Vamvakaris (Kechros)

30/7-4/9 (Falatados)
-Exhibition of sculpture, painting and photography works entitled Paying a visit to Chalepas

-Mediterranean. The journey of an image. A multi performance with the phonetic ensemble Imi-olon and other musicians featuring songs from all over Greece as well as Asia Minor, Turkey, Portugal, Egypt, S. Italy and Spain.

1-3/8 (various villages of Exombourgo)
-A theatre performance based on myths and legends from Greece, China. Germany and other countries.

Monday 8/8 (Loutra)
-Concert by Notis Mavroudis and with the participation of Panagiotis Margaris (guitar), Morfo Tsairelli (song)

Wednesday 10/8(Loutra)
-Lorka's poetry in Greek song and songs by Manos Hadjidakis. A concert featuring songs by Theodorakis, Hadjidakis, Xarchakos, Glezos, Leontis

Friday 12/8 (Loutra)
-Á concert by Ìanolis Mitsias

Monday 16/8 (Loutra)
-Here is my star. Theatre performance based on texts by Dimitris Vikelas and Emanuel Roidis directed by Eleni Georgopoulou

Wedneday, 17/8 (Volax Theatre)
-Puppet theatre performance entitled The princess with the green tail by the theatre group Prassin Aloga. The performance is based on the traditional Macedonian fairy tale The man who understood animals written by Avgi Papakou -Lagou

Sunday 4/9 (Xombourgo)
-Gazing the Aegean Sea. An event exploring the contribution of Modern Greek thought in Europe. The event is honoured by the presence of the famous writer Jacques Lacarrier who delivers a speech on Gazing the Aegean Sea.
Other speakers: Pavlos Tzermias, vice-president of the Greek Institution for Culture who speaks on Culture and Politics , Apostolos Apostolopoulos, writer - chairman of the NGO Delfiki Amfiktionia, who speaks on The intellectual contribution of Kastoriadis, Papajoannou, Xenakis, Axelos in modern European thought.
The musicians Nina Patrikidou (violin), and Michalis Karavassilis (ancient Greek instruments) participate in the event as well.

Within the framework of the festival, singer Eystathia accompanied by the group Astatheis performs in various clubs of Tinos Island, while another concert is organized on September with the participation of Mario, Babis Tsertos and Yiouli Tsirou.
