An exhibition on Ancient Greek Technology in the island of Andros

Aiming to provide a concrete account on the level of technological progress achieved in ancient Greece, an exhibition on Ancient Greek Technology is being organized at the Cultural Center of Ormos, in Andros island from July 23 until August 21, 2005. The exhibition features models of ornaments, war-time machines, tools and various objects related to the everyday life and culture of the ancient Greeks and the Byzantines. Screenings and lectures on related issues take place as well, within the framework of the exhibition.

The exhibition unfolds in fourteen thematic sections, which host various technical achievements of the ancient Greeks, along with drawings, photographs and models of boats .

Films of archaeological content are to be screened, among which we find Agelastos Petra by Philippos Koutsaftis, Ancient Quarries by Memi Spyratos, The ancient mysteries-the Pincer (a BBC production), The works in the Athenian Acropolis by Socratis Mavromatis. And the programme of parallel events goes on with lectures on ancient Greek technology.
